POWDER HORSE
Chair. 1991. One-off.
Part of a research into the relation between the two- and threedimensional, and concave and convex forms. The deceptively heavy and extremely lightweight chair consists of a welded and polished aluminium sheet of only 3 mm thick, and is totally empty at the inside. Its skin is also its structure, and gets is strength from the interplay of curves. The final result also demonstrates Venlets already early concern to go far beyond the pure functional, in giving his furniture a sculptural quality.
